2004 Press Releases

Drilling Begins at Hog Ranch

February 18, 2004

ROMARCO MINERALS INC. (“TSXV: R” – the “Company”) is pleased to announce that drilling is underway at its Hog Ranch Project located in Washoe County, Nevada. A first-phase drilling program, consisting of approximately 3,500 feet (1067 m) of rotary-reverse circulation drilling in four drill holes, is being conducted to test bonanza gold vein targets below and around the previously mined Geib Pit. Layne Christensen Company has been selected as the drilling contractor. Mr. Robert Hatch (Romarco’s US Exploration Manager) and Mr. William Walker (project geologist) are overseeing the exploration program. A more comprehensive drilling program will be conducted in the Spring of 2004.

Romarco has an option with Seabridge Gold Inc. to earn a 60% interest (65% under certain conditions) in the Hog Ranch Project in Nevada. Hog Ranch is a large volcanic-hosted gold/silver district that contains high-grade gold mineralization within quartz-adularia banded veins that are similar in age, texture and mineralogy to the veins occurring at the Sleeper, Midas and Ivanhoe gold mines in northern Nevada. Previous exploration and mining activities focused on low-grade, near-surface, disseminated, stockwork, vein, and breccia-hosted deposits amenable to open-pit mining and heap leaching. Romarco believes the geological characteristics evident at Hog Ranch indicate the potential for high-grade quartz-adularia veins occurring at greater depth than the previously mined deposits.
